Next weekend is the weekend when we get to put out all the junk we can find and have it ready for other people to pick through, before it is ultimately picked up on Tuesday. I CAN HARDLY WAIT! I think it is probably my favourite weekend in the year. I start making a list of things to get rid of shortly after the previous year's weekend has ended. Invariably the new list is started by the first thing I find that I forgot to put out that year.
I'm not totally sure how I end up with so much junk, but my house seems to be a collection hub for it. And it's not even all my own junk - I have collections of other people's junk too.
I was a bit disappointed to go through the list of acceptable junking items and discovered that you can no longer put out tv's or fridges. I have a collection of those. I wonder if I can put out other dead electronics? Broken dvd player, anyone?
One week today will be the end of our junking process. Room by room, the house has been decluttered, sorted and soon, emptied of all that doesn't belong. As of Wednesday, next week, you can drop by anytime and I will let you in. I might even feed you something or make you a cup of tea. Seven days for seven rooms - the clock is ticking and the countdown is on.
