We were thrilled to be on the receiving end of other people's generosity this Christmas season and not only did it make me feel loved and cared for, but the joy of watching my boys "receive" will be unforgettable. I don't know who is responsible for our 12 days of Christmas surprises. I don't know if it's one person, a family or a group of friends - whoever you are, you have changed our perspective on being blessed. I hope that somehow you will end up reading our thank you poem.
Two tins of cookies were found on our steps,
and that was the beginning of the 12 days of Christmas.
The boys were thrilled with the find and most impressed,
together they yelled, "Cool! there's one for each of us!"
Day two was next - we didn't know what to expect,
much to our delight we found ROGERS video tickets!
The boys were dividing them up and causing a riot,
while I was thinking, "praise God, that'll buy me some peace and some quiet!"
The third day came quick and we raced home to see
what gift had been left for us, the 3 Peas.
Save-On foods! The weekly essentials, plus some candy cane tea.
Thanks for that - the boys didn't care, but it was quite nice for me!
By day four we were excited to go out, so we could come back,
and see if our Santa had emptied her sack.
As we pulled in the drive, there was a glimmer of red - a very small dot,
It turned out to be... a family dinner at White Spot!
On day five, people were calling to see what had appeared at our door,
the boys were not happy, actually, a little bit sore...
it was nothing for them - it was all about me!
A massage at Spa Time - January 4th, at half past three.
Day six found the boys taking bets on what it could be,
who would it be for? Us, them or me?
We got back to the farm and got out of the car,
"Mom! it's movie coupons!!! Can we go see Avatar?"
The seventh day came and went and the boys weren't around,
I headed home by myself and wondered what would be found.
I think I was happier than if I'd had a bowl of potatoes and gravy,
when to my great delight there was a gift to OLD NAVY!
(that's saying a lot, if you know how much I love potatoes and gravy!)
One night we were arriving home very, very late,
And that night happened to be Christmas day eight.
The season was the reason for these gifts to be left,
and a sign reading "Christmas" was wrapped up and placed on the step.
We were reaching the end of our treats with day number nine,
only a few more to go - it was sad, but still fine.
Today brought a laugh from the boys in a hurry,
"Poo pourri" - hahaha - perfect for post curry!
Day ten left us with the treat of a game,
we can play it together to see what we think of the same.
It will be used each day, when we sit down to dinner,
but it will be a challenge for us as there's no real winner.
Christmas Eve brings us to day number eleven.
I went back to the house early - at seven.
Nothing was there, our step was empty and bare,
all I could do was stand there and stare.
Now it was Christmas - the end of our fun,
I finally got back to the house, it was hard to not run.
There at the door were two gifts left for us,
the gift for day twelve and the one previous.
There was a set of Christmas stories all wrapped up and bound,
and then an envelope with a surprise, waiting to be found.
I was sad it was over, but grateful, to be true,
Thank you and God bless! lovingly, from us, to you.
