It's been so long since I've updated, I almost forgot how to do it! For those of you who noticed that I was missing, and called to check in - thank you! To the rest of you... you already know how I feel.
I was in bed with the flu for a good week. So sick I didn't even check my email! I am now feeling better and have rejoined the land of the living. Neither of the boys caught it (praise Jesus!), and they did an admirable job fending for themselves while I was too sick to function. I, however, will now be cleaning my house until sometime around spring break.
I learned that a lot goes on while you're sick. Even though I was at home and not working, the work kept accumulating. I guess people didn't get the memo that I was sick and therefore, not working. Of course, even though I still don't feel great, I am back at work trying to make up lost ground. Do you ever feel incompetent in your job? Like pretty much any one else on the planet could do a better job at it than you? That's how I've been feeling this week. It's time to ramp things up a notch, but I just don't know where to start. I need some inspiration. Maybe these are left over residue feelings from being sick...
On to something different... My 12 year old son has become a chick magnet. Seemingly overnight this happened, and all of a sudden he has a very active social calendar. Requests come in over the phone and through email - many, many requests. I told him he needs to find a job of some sort to finance this new stage of his life. (If anyone has something for him to do to earn a few bucks, let us know!) I knew the day would come when he would be out more than me, but I am still a bit startled at it coming so soon. I was thinking 14 - not 12. Apparently, I don't know what I'm talking about. The bonus in all this for me is that now I have all kinds of things to use as leverage to make him do what I want. For example... "Of course you can go over to your friend's house on Saturday night for a movie party - as long as your room is clean first." You would not believe how well this is working for me! The other bonus is that we live too far away from any friends for him to storm out, sneak out or simply walk out. He is mine (until he has a driver's licence and a car that he pays for himself!).
Well, it's time to find something to feed the boys before we head out for youth group and Bible study. Have a great night everyone!
