This is what I've been doing to work out my frustrations and
aggressions! I haven't been doing it alone - there is a guy who comes and goes at whim - but there is a funny story... This guy is not very reliable in his scheduling, so he'll come and work for a while and then leave for another day or so; well, after he leaves, I go out and continue on where he left off and when he came back yesterday, I was standing at my kitchen window and he looked around trying to figure out why it seemed like so much more was finished. It was hilarious! I didn't say a word - we'll just let him think the trench digging fairies were out in full force. Apparently the pipes are going in the ground on Thursday - I won't hold my breath.
Each of those tarps marks a trench about 30 feet long and 2 feet deep. I've had a leaking pipe in the septic field for quite some time and when the pipes were unearthed it was discovered that the pipes are about as old as the house! To the right of the trench is a huge birch tree - you can see where the roots cross the trench - they're all being dug around. Where all the trenches meet - up by the house - is a big hole with a pump in it keeping things from flooding.
It's good times out here on the farm :)
I was reminded today that hard work isn't going to kill me and it actually makes me feel better.
