PEI is perfectly pleasant.

We have been on the Island now for three days and we have enjoyed each one of them. Tomorrow is our last day here and we will catch a ferry to Nova Scotia and then an overnight ferry to Newfoundland. Brendan and I have both been fighting a cold with a fever, so yesterday was a bit of sightseeing in the morning and hanging out at the cabin in the afternoon. We have been to Green Gables, seen the sand dunes, walked on the red sand (and stolen some to bring home!), browsed through some very old cemetarys and today we travelled to North Cape where there is a windmill farm. It rained for most of the day, but we still managed to spend some time on the beach collecting treasures, but we had to move our picnic to the car.
The highlight of yesterday was searching through a cemetary for the grave of L.L.Maude Montgomery after we had hiked through the Haunted Woods. When we got back to the cabin, the boys both wrote a short story that was set in the same Haunted Woods that Anne once played in. Each night before we go to sleep, we read a few chapters from Anne of Green Gables and I'm happy to report that both boys are now hooked on the adventures of Anne.
When we got up this morning our goal was to make some pancakes, and be out of here by 10am, so we could travel out to see Elephant Rock. Seeing the rock was one of the things that Dylan really wanted to do while we were on the Island. We went to say goodbye to the Campground owners and she aksed where we were headed. I said we were off to see Elephant Rock - she, in turn, looked a bit funny at me and said, quite cautiously, "Elephant Rock blew over in a storm last year." Of course it did. I think everything that Dylan has wanted to do has had a problem with it. The kid can't win. Anyways, she pointed us in the direction of the Windmill Farm and Dylan was happy to be driving to the very tip of the Island. It turned out to be a good day.
The boys are off playing at the pond and playground, I am about to put in a load of laundry and start some dinner - spaghetti, I think. Tomorrow we will venture in to Charlottetown on the way to our first ferry and say good bye to the Island that quickly became our favourite province so far.

It seems like only a dream to be in PEI so it is amazing to hear that you are there! I am not surprised that it is your favourite province so far and I do hope you boys give your Mom a big "thimble" for getting you there! It is neat to hear that you are enjoying the Anne stories. Katy of course has read them all but it inspires me to not skip this one with the boys. Maybe I will save it for when we are their ourselves one day. Dreams do come true!
