A regular Laura Ingalls, I am.

I think I'm settling in to this new lifestyle. The car hasn't left the farm in a few days, I am nicely sun "kissed" from working my land and I have perfected the art of sun tea. The clothes line is holding its own at the moment, the kids are getting better at not bugging me, the garden is starting to look recognizable and everyone ate two different types of vegan muffins yesterday with nary a complaint. Life is good.
The boys will finally be getting to the solar oven project - yeah! and I'm hoping to try something out in it before the heat wave passes. I'll keep you updated.
The boys got bored enough yesterday that they pulled out a game that did not plug in to anything and it provided an ample amount of entertainment to produce some laughter - another success! Although I think they are having the most fun making fun of me - whatever, I can take one for the team. Let them laugh, I say! The latest offence of mine was when Brendan yelled for me out a window the other day and wanted to know where I was and what I was doing. I yelled back "I'm outside working the hoe!" A prompt, disgusted, reply rang back... "MOM, don't EVER say that again! People walking on the dyke can hear you!" "Dylan, did you hear what mom said??!!"
There are books lying all over the house and we are all reading up a storm. It's amazing how a book takes on its own life when you have to really use your imagination. I think Brendan forgot what that was like last year. He read nothing interesting all year long and I thought school may actually have killed his love of books. Praise God he's turning pages again!
Well, my hour is almost up (that includes some email, facebook, surfing and writing this) so it's off to the berry fields to stock up on some end of season strawberries for the freezer and some jam. Enjoy the sunshine everyone!
