Well, yesterday was finally the day. My plants went in the ground. I spent the morning marking out the plots, laying out the sections and softening up the dirt a bit. Then I took a break for the afternoon - it was hot and tiring! Around 730pm I went back out and got all the plants in the ground. Spent some time watering them and talking to them before I headed inside for the night. Let me just say, there is a lot of stress with being a farmer. All I've done is worry about my little plants. Is it too cold? Will they like the new dirt? What if the wind blows them over before they've really had a chance to get their roots settled in? What if the slugs find them? Or the birds? Or the rabbits? Or even the coyotes? Then it rained after I had already watered. Ummmm, hello God?! Are you not paying attention? My plants already have water. Right, God and weather patterns are not all about me.
I had planned on showing you some pictures and explaining what everything is, but when I went to take some shots, my batteries (yes, both of them!) were dead. I will try to get pictures up tomorrow. I know, you can hardly wait to see it, right? It is something to behold, I must say. I put a chair at the edge of the field so I can sit and watch them whenever I want. I have an extra chair if you ever want to join me...
