Today is a day when I have nothing of interest to talk about. It was a pretty ordinary day, with pretty ordinary happenings. I dropped one kid at school and one kid at art and then headed to my office for the morning. It's still a bit "on edge" in the office - hopefully that will end tomorrow when we are all told of each other's fates. The art kid went on the run, but then decided that was a bad idea and came back and then we headed to Children's hospital for a catch up appointment. The funny thing was that there were a total of 6 mental health professionals crammed in to one little office to hear what I had to say. I am always amazed when they think I'm amazing. It makes me laugh - if only they really knew... All in all, the appointment was good and we headed back to pick up the other kid from volleyball.
Do you know how boring elementary school volleyball is? Maybe that makes me a terrible mother, but oh my goodness it's bad. The thing is, all the good parents are clapping and coaching from the sidelines and I'm thinking, they need a talking to about raising their kids in a world of false hope and misguided congratulations. Now granted, I don't like volleyball to begin with, but bad volleyball is even worse. If fun is the objective (and not winning) I figure our school is close to the end of their run, because sooner, rather than later, they're going to discover that it is not fun to lose all the time.
We made it home for a 10 minute turnaround - enough time to grab a drink and get changed before we headed out for the last part of our day. One kid was dropped off for dinner and night of video games with his second family, I went to work and got ready for the influx of kids for our KidzTown Connexions and the other kid was picked up and dropped off at Shakespeare.
We all had a good time at our different activities and pulled in to our driveway as the last "Yes, we can!" was being spoken by the new President of the United States. Isn't it a bit funny that the new leader, of the world's most powerful nation, is quoting Bob the Builder? (for some of you out of touch people, that is not a misrepresentation of Joe the Plumber)
I've managed to fill a post with mostly nothing, but it's a post none the less.
Another day done.
Thank you God for loving me.
